Rotopax Mounting Plate for Truck Bed Racks | XTR Gas Can Mount

Fits every XTR1, XTR3, XBRS and XO.SKLTN bed rack, any truck. CNC machined in Wichita, Kansas.
The XTR Rotopax Adapter Plate is the bracket that puts a Rotopax mount on your bed rack. It bolts into the rack's 15-series T-slot with two drop-in T-nuts and two button-head screws, and your Rotopax pack mount bolts to the plate. No drilling, no tapping, no fabrication: pick a spot on a side brace, top brace or crossbar, slide the T-nuts in, snug it down with a 3/16" Allen key, and your fuel or water can rides on the rack instead of rolling around the bed.
⚠️ BEFORE YOU ORDER
This is the adapter plate only. The Rotopax pack mount and the Rotopax can are not included. You need one plate plus one Rotopax mount for each can you want to carry. Add a Rotopax Standard Pack Mount or DLX Pack Mount to your cart with it. The LOX locking mount also fits the plate but is not included.
Why a dedicated plate instead of a MOLLE panel
A Rotopax mount wants a flat, rigid surface with its own bolt pattern. The T-slot on an XTR rack is a channel, not a flat, so there is nothing for the mount's screws to grab without a plate in between. This plate is CNC machined from 3/8" aluminum to span the slot, carries the Rotopax mount's hole pattern, and locks into the extrusion with drop-in T-nuts so the whole stack stays put over washboard and rock. Because the T-nuts slide, you can put the can exactly where you want it: outboard on a side brace so it's reachable from the ground, on a top brace clear of the tonneau cover, or on an XTR Slide Out so it pulls out from the side of the truck.
It's 3/8" thick raw aluminum, so it won't flex, won't rust and there's no coating to chip when a full can rubs against it on the trail. At 0.28 lb it adds nothing to your payload math.

Mount it next to the rest of your gear
Run one plate per can and stack as many as your rack has room for. Pair it with XTR Modular MOLLE Plates for the smaller stuff, Quick Fist Riser Mounts for the shovel and axe, and the Universal T-Slot Mounting Plate for lights and other accessories. Carrying water instead of fuel? Same plate, same mount.
Rotopax Adapter Plate — FAQ
Does it come with the Rotopax mount?
No. The plate adapts the rack to the mount; the mount and the can are sold separately. We carry the Standard and DLX pack mounts and Rotopax fuel and water cans, so you can order everything in one cart. The LOX locking mount is not included either.
How many plates do I need?
One plate for each Rotopax mount. A single mount with a 1.75- or 2-gallon extension stacks two cans on one plate; two separate cans side by side need two plates and two mounts.
Where on the rack should I put it?
Anywhere there's T-slot. Most owners put a fuel can low on a side brace, outboard, so it comes off without climbing in the bed and the weight stays low. Water usually goes on the top or inside where it's shaded. If you run a tonneau cover, the side braces keep the can clear of the cover. On a Slide Out it pulls clear of the rack for filling.
Will it fit XBRS bed bars or an XTR Offroad roof rack?
XBRS yes — it uses the same 1.5" 15-series T-slot as the XTR1, XTR3 and XO.SKLTN. Our roof racks are built on 1" x 2" 10-series bars, and this plate does not fit them.
Can I lock the can?
Use the Rotopax LOX locking pack mount on the plate; the lock cylinder is in the mount, not the plate, and the LOX mount is not included. Rotopax notes the lock is defeated once an extension is stacked on the mount.
How much weight can it carry?
The plate is rated to the same load as the Rotopax mount bolted to it, so the mount, not the plate, sets the limit. For reference, a full 4-gallon Rotopax gas can is roughly 30 lb and a 2-gallon water can about 17 lb. The can's weight counts against your rack's load rating and your truck's payload.
Does it rattle or loosen off-road?
The drop-in T-nuts clamp the 3/8" plate flat against the extrusion face, so there's no bracket to flex. Snug the two button-heads, then check them after the first trail run as you would any rack hardware. A dab of blue thread locker is cheap insurance.
What tools do I need?
A 3/16" Allen key for the two button-head screws, plus whatever your Rotopax mount calls for. No drilling.
Will raw aluminum corrode?
Aluminum doesn't rust; it forms its own oxide layer and stays grey. If you want it to match the black rack, any rattle-can or powder coat will take to it.
